Warner Bros krijgt rechten voor eerste Doom film

Alle Doom liefhebbers mogen in hun handjes knijpen, want Warner Brothers krijgt zo goed als zeker de rechten voor de eerste Doom film. Het gaat om een voortgang-tot-productie deal waarbij het project over 15 maanden voor de camera's zou moeten staan. Er is echter geen ruimte voor het missen van deadlines, want na deze 15 maanden gaan de rechten weer terug naar id. De film zal waarschijnlijk een PG-13 rating krijgen in Amerika. Wat de leeftijdsgrens in Nederland zal worden is nog niet bekend.The feature film's story line will most resemble the third "Doom," which is set in the future at a paramilitary base on Mars, where a scientific experiment goes awry and accidentally opens a portal to hell. The vastly outnumbered hero fights off the forces of hell as they come from the portal onto the deserted base. This will be the basis for the feature version, without the constraints of the first-person shooter format. John Wells zal de productie van de film gaan doen, die waarschijnlijk gebaseerd zal zijn op het derde deel in de Doom serie. Doom III verschijnt volgend jaar en is nu al een van de meest gehypte games allertijden. Of de film ook een succes zal worden zullen we pas veel later weten.
